Feb 4, 2010 - @itchyundies US signed a peace treaty with North & South Vietnam in Jan 1973. If North found a peaceful political solution with the South there was billions for development and cleanup of the country. However, North Vietnam could not stop its agression of the South and conquered them in 1975. This broke the treaty and ended all financial incentives for the North. The North assumed all responsibility for Vietnam with no future help from US financially or otherwise. We are free to do nothing.

Vietnam had their chance before 1975 conquest of South Vietnam to receive large cash support for clean-up and other peace dividends from their original agreements with the US and South Vietnam. North Vietnam preferred to conquer South Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia like some big Asian pig. As long as the US is a great power we will have enemies that desire to destroy the US.
