We're the ones that demanded the show be brought back a long time ago in a galaxy surprisingly not very far far away. I thought the reboot of the series was needed/turned out great. Nemesis was alright, but where would they go from there? Everything had pretty much been said and done as far as the TOS cast and the TNG cast. MAJOR BONUS: With the new cast we see recent adaptations of old charaters which rules!

Making fun of trekkies/trekkers has been done before and with better class. Just let it go, it's been done before. Let us enjoy what we like. If you think it's silly or dumb then go, we don't want you here anyway. It's the real fans that brought the franchise to life. Do you realize the original series was cancelled after 3 seasons? Fans brought it back

I thought the new movie was awesome, especially the casting (which usually the worst part). Only thing I didn't care for was part of the new ship design, the beastie boys wtf? and maybe scotty or sulu. But those are minor personal gripes.

JJ Abrams could have made his own sci-fi flick instead of hiding behind the name "Star Trek" in case it failed. Changing the timeline, so that he doesn't mess-up later stories was an "ok" idea, but destroying Vulcan and killing off Spocks mom in his version goes too far and just makes it look like he hates Star Trek.

Jul 15, 2010 - Lol, finally. I liked the film quite well on its own merits. Sure it's a little unrealistic that Kirk would go from Cadet to Captain in less than 24 hours, and Vulcan was destroyed while Earth, once again, narrowly escapes (shouldn't it be the other way around after all these years?) but overall it was a good film. At the very least, it saved the franchise for another 5 years, and, as far as prequels go, kicked the snot out of Episode's 1, 2, and 3 of Star Wars.
